The Pentecostal Education Commission, through its Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission, has developed a quality assurance framework to serve as the basis for determining and recognizing the extent to which an institution is accomplishing its mission and goals.
The Accreditation Standards serve as guidance for the following:
These Standards and their associated components represent the best practices to be attained in the various aspects of the institution. They serve as a basis for systematic self-study for purposes of accreditation or for the institution’s own internal evaluation. An institutional self-study describes how an institution is meeting the Standards in a manner appropriate to its mission, goals, and objectives.
The Pentecostal Education Commission’s quality assurance approach does not specifically define uniform targets or specific expectations for member institutions. Rather, the accreditation process guides an institution in evaluating its effectiveness in achieving its own desired outcomes. The process begins when an institution formulates a mission statement supported by relevant learning outcomes along with goals and objectives that clearly relate to the Church’s biblical mandate. It is the institution’s mission statement that is the foundational first Standard. Each of the remaining nine standards is a content-specific measurement of the fulfillment of the institution’s mission statement in key areas of institutional life.
